Grammar School
Our Mission is to provide classical, Christian education that is parent directed, student centered, and powered by passionate educators.
Classical
One of the main aspects of classical education is the Trivium, or three stages of learning. Kindergarteners are in the Grammar Stage; this is when children are most receptive to basic facts. For some students, this is their first encounter with formal schooling. Learning is activity based, cultivates imagination, and challenges students intellectually.
Another facet of classical education is holistic learning. Our Kindergarten curriculum covers the seven continents and oceans. Our Christian worldview and Biblical knowledge shape our units that integrate language, science, social studies, and social skills. The basic facts (the grammar) of the subjects will be taught within each unit. In Math, some topics covered are basic operations, grouping, and graphing. In Science, students will learn about habitat, geology, and natural laws like magnetism. In Language, students are using “Spell to Write and Read” to formally learn spelling rules and practice handwriting.
Christian
This year, students will read through the Bible. Children will learn how to apply Biblical character traits. Each week the teacher will read through stories and parents will be encouraged to read additional versions of the same stories at home. Additionally, students will memorize portions of scripture and practice Christ-like behavior in class.
Parent Support
Choosing to take the step to have your child in a hybrid school can be a big change for your family. Our teachers will send home a weekly newsletter giving detailed outlines of what children will be learning along with learning extensions you can do with them at home. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the classroom to help with daily learning and gain a first hand perspective of your child in a group learning setting. Parent help is crucial for our program to remain low in cost and be successful.
