Imagine walking into a classroom full of children busy loving learning. At Cornerstone Academy, our students are given opportunities to explore and learn about the world they live in. In the Beginning School we offer classes for 2yr olds, preschoolers and pre-kindergartners in the morning as well as enrichment classes in the afternoon.
- Classes are keep to a maximum of sixteen students in each room
- The teacher and classroom aide work in tandem
- Students are grouped by ability for reading and math centers
- Parent volunteers are integrated into each class day
- Field trips extend learning outside the walls of the classroom
A typical day starts out with a warm welcome from the teacher. Students begin class at circle time with songs and stories about the alphabet, numbers and more. Then they rotate through one set of stations, exploring language and science and math in small groups. Then students take a break for snack and recess. They return for a second set of small group stations. Finally, they wrap up the day at the circle time again to review what they learned.
